The Alto Cornamuse model is a 3D printable reconstruction of a Renaissance wind instrument known as the cornamuse. This instrument is a double reed instrument, distinct from the oboe, as the reed is covered by a cap into which the player blows. The cornamuse is described in the works of Michael Praetorius, who noted its sound as 'similar to crumhorns, but quieter, lovelier, and very soft.'

Construction Features:

  • Simple cylindrical design, making it ideal for 3D printing.
  • No keys, simplifying assembly and playability.
  • The instrument is divided into four parts for easy printing: ReedCap, UpperSlice, LowerSlice, and EndCap.

Printing Recommendations:

  • UpperSlice and LowerSlice include a raft for better adhesion.
  • Joints between UpperSlice and LowerSlice should be glued.
  • Internal bore diameter is 8mm, which may be adjusted later.
