This dowel is an integral part of the roof lock assembly on the chassis of the Mercedes-Benz R230 and SL-Class, including SL350, SL500, SL55, SL600, SL63, SL65 (without Black Edition).
It is used to level the roof when it is closed. On the right side, there is a microswitch in the connector that detects when the roof is closed.
This part should work on all 2002-2012 R230 bodies with Vario Roof. Compatibility with other chassis is uncertain.
