Open Mosquito Trap (OMT) is an open hardware project developed by several French MakerSpace Networks. The main goal of this model is to provide an affordable, ecological, and easy-to-make device for trapping and eliminating dangerous mosquitoes.

Usage: OMT is designed for use in countries where mosquitoes pose a significant health risk. The device attracts mosquitoes by generating CO2 from compost.

Construction: The model consists of three parts: the bottom (OMTbottom), the middle (OMTmiddle), and the top (OMTtop). Each part has specific layer thicknesses: 0.09 mm for the bottom and 0.14 mm for both the middle and top. All parts fit together easily due to minimal tolerances.

Printing Recommendations: For the bottom part, it is recommended to use full infill to ensure impermeability. When assembling the device, fill the bottom part with rotting fruits, water, and leaves to initiate the CO2 emission process.

Usage Instructions:

  • Fill the bottom part with compost.
  • Assemble all parts together.
  • Place the trap near areas where you spend time.
  • Mosquitoes will die overnight, and you can dispose of them in the compost.
