This kit allows for the installation of an Anytone AT-778UV or similar radio in the overhead DIN slot of Sprinter vans. It is a no-cut, no-drill solution that utilizes the existing DIN carrier in the vehicle.

Printing Recommendations:

  • Faceplate: Orientation - face down, tabs up. A textured PEI build surface yields a great finish.
  • Infill: 25%, Gyroid recommended for PETG.
  • Material: Should be somewhat flexible; PETG suggested.
  • Printing Notes: Concentric pattern on top/bottom layers improves faceplate finish.

Installation:

The clips are rigid, unlike factory spring clips. Installation/removal is done by flexing the center of the plate, not the clips.

Side Rails:

  • Orientation: Tall, angled end pointing up.
  • Infill: 25%.
  • Material: Higher temperature filaments recommended due to proximity to the roof and contact with the radio heatsink.

Radio Wiring:

An inexpensive wiring harness is available on Amazon for the factory X178 Front Roof connector. Pinout:

  • Red (30) – hot
  • Black/pink (15) – ignition on
  • Grey/blue (58d) – engine on
  • Brown (31) – ground

The red always-on wire is fused in F55/2 position 4, with a 7.5A fuse. The radio draws a maximum of 5A when transmitting, making this circuit sufficient. Enjoy!
