Problem: Owners of classic BMWs (Sharknose and subsequent generations) know how difficult it is to find original protective covers for Hella fog lights. Without them, rare optics remain defenseless against gravel, and the appearance of the car seems unfinished. Buying a used kit is often more expensive than the headlights themselves.
Solution: This 3D digital model is a high-fidelity replica of classic Hella safety covers. The geometry is completely identical to the original, including the characteristic latches for tight fixation on the headlight housing. Now you can print any number of covers for your car or project.
Model specifications:
Compatibility: BMW 3 series (E30), 5 series (E28, E34), 6 series (E24). Suitable for standard Hella PTFs of the corresponding shape.
Purpose: Protecting fog lamp glasses from mechanical damage and giving the car a “retro-sport” style.
File format: STL (high detail, optimized for printing without visible defects).
Design: The surface is prepared for the application of the classic Hella logo (paint or sticker).
3D Printing Recommendations:
The covers are located on the front of the car and absorb impacts from stones and the flow of hot/cold air:
Material: ASA or ABS recommended. ASA is the best choice as it is UV resistant and maintains a deep black color for years. PLA is absolutely not suitable (it deforms from heat and sun).
Filling: 40–100% (for resistance to stone impacts).
Layer height: 0.1 – 0.15 mm for a smooth front side.
Post-processing: For a perfect look, light sanding and painting with structural matte paint (similar to factory plastic) is recommended.
Benefits:
“Old School” style: The same look of the legendary BMWs from the 80s and 90s.
Optics protection: It is cheaper to print a new cover than to buy a rare headlight.
Instant access: The file is ready to use immediately after purchase.
