We offer a digital model (STL file) ready for 3D printing of the interior heater cover for the classic BMW E30.
The original plastic of the heating system on cars over 30 years old inevitably dries out, deforms and cracks due to constant temperature changes. Finding a “live” original cover at a disassembly site today is almost impossible. This 3D model is an ideal solution for restorers and owners of the E30, allowing them to independently produce a reliable part and forever forget about problems with the tightness of the stove body.
Advantages of our 3D model:
Accuracy: Dimensions, mounting locations and fasteners are designed in strict accordance with the original geometry of the factory part.
Adaptation for 3D printing: The model is checked for errors (manifold), the walls and weak points of the original are slightly strengthened to ensure maximum strength for FDM printing.
Instant access: The file is ready to be loaded into the slicer immediately after downloading - you don’t need to wait for delivery of a rare spare part.
3D Printing Recommendations:
Material (Critical!): The part is part of a heating system where the temperature of antifreeze and air reaches 90°C. The use of PLA or PETG is strictly prohibited - they are deformed the first time they are heated. It is necessary to use heat-stable plastics: ABS, ASA, Polycarbonate (PC) or Nylon (PA).
Hardware Settings: ABS/ASA parts of this size require a printer with a closed thermal chamber (such as Bambu Lab P1S or similar) to avoid delamination and shrinkage of corners during printing.
Slicer parameters: We recommend using 100% filling or at least 5-6 walls (perimeters) to achieve maximum density and rigidity. If your system supports automatic filament changing (AMS), use HIPS or specialized support material for the contact layers to ensure perfectly smooth inner surfaces of the fasteners.
