The BMW Z4 (E85) lacks a flat surface in the cabin to mount a traditional phone holder. The holder was designed with the following features:

No drilling or damage to the dashboard is required.
The mount securely grips in the slot between the instrument cluster and dashboard trim.
Using a little pressure and rubber (from an old camera) ensures a solid hold of the holder.

The mount works well on the road, but it hasn't been tested around corners yet.
