If you don't use a glove box light on your BMW e46, here's a nice USB port adapter that plugs right into your dash and gives you two switchable ports!

Instructions:

Remove the center of the light socket using a screwdriver and take out the pins to be reused in the new adapter.
Print both parts.
Connect two of these buck converters with 18AWG wire.
Be cautious, as there is limited space.
The contact closest to the edge is negative.
Solder the wires to the pins before inserting from the bottom — be careful not to insert too far.
Insert the assembled converter into the socket, push the connector housing into the back, connect the wire from the car, and insert it back into the glove compartment.
