A friend's car roof would no longer close and made a strange noise. Upon investigation, we found that the hole for the square shaft in the helical gear had become round.

We decided to create a 3D model and print it out. The first test installation failed, as it was only filled 20% with 2 perimeters (0.3mm nozzle).

The second model, printed with 50% fill and 6 perimeters, was successful. Printing another one is straightforward, and it will likely last a long time.

Material used: Igus Iglidur i150.
