This keychain design for VW and BMW keys features two functioning gears in a roughly 2:1 ratio. The cool aspect of the design is that it requires no glue, screws, or supports, even with three moving parts.
Instructions:
- Print with low layer height (0.2 mm and below).
- The only thing that differs between models is the Big Gear file.
- First, print out the Big Gear (if you want the BMW file, you should also print out the checkers and glue them in place).
- Print the VW key fob body (even if you want a BMW), pausing when the print reaches 7.2mm to place the Big Gear in place. Resume printing.
- Print the VW small gear (even if you want a BMW).
- Print the VW key fob hook (even if you want a BMW), pausing printing when the print reaches 10.4mm to place the housing (with the large gear) and small gear in place. Resume printing when completed.
- Printing complete!
- Spend some time running the gears - it makes a big difference!
- If your printer has an elephant's foot problem, you may have to trim the bottom edges because the tolerances between the gears are tight.
