This part is designed to eliminate a recurring malfunction of the recirculation system on the Opel Astra H, caused by excessive servo torque on the internal flap, leading to cracks in plastic parts.
Causes of failure:
- Design and materials used in the valve.
- Excessive torque from the servo motor.
A faulty damper has a low response speed, cannot tightly block the external air flow, which results in odors and pollutants easily entering the car. Guides on how to replace or repair a faulty valve can be found through a Google search.
To prevent further malfunctions: a resistor with a resistance of 50 to 120 Ohms (2 W) is required in series with the motor.
