A minimalist design featuring frame rails, tongue, fifth wheel plate, and rear bumper. Some parts, like the fifth wheel plate, have decent scale detail.

Key Features:

  • Integrated mounting holes for Tamiya two axle leaf spring suspension.
  • Printing options for most parts available on Thingiverse.
  • Additional components such as the fifth wheel and release mechanism can be sourced from Tamiya kits.

Additional Hardware Needed:

  • You'll need extra 3mm screws (same as used in all Tamiya kits) to assemble the jeep.
  • The rear bumper and top plate use wood-style threads that screw right into the rails.
  • All other fasteners have a recessed hole for a flanged lock nut also used in Tamiya kits.

Uses and Compromises:

The design allows for reducing excessive weight off the pulling semi/truck. Since the RC4WD was not designed with a jeep in mind, there isn’t enough length to evenly distribute weight between the towing rig and the jeep, which is the intent of 1:1 lowboy jeeps. As a result, the towing rig may not have enough weight for traction on loose surfaces.

Unloaded, you achieve a total of 20mm clearance from the front leading edge of the lowboy, which is helpful.
