These ignition coil adapters allow the use of newer and cheaper R8/FSI/TSI ignition coil blocks. They fit VW MK4 and Audi MKI 1.8T engines. On older style valve covers with factory coils, the new coils will be positioned slightly off center. Expensive centered aluminum coil pack adapters can stress components, leading to premature failure.
Recommended printable files:
- angled_solid.stl - For early model valve covers with factory bolts.
- centered_solid_trimmed.stl - For late model valve covers with factory push coils.
Print the adapters using high-temperature filament (like nylon or polycarbonate) upside down, with supports in the center. Use at least three perimeters. Press compression stops into the 3D printed adapters using a vice. Install the adapter onto the coil, then slide it onto the spark plug. Torque the bolts to specification. To enhance moisture protection, an ignition coil seal can be purchased, although it is not necessary. Printing with PETG or PLA is not recommended. The valve cover can withstand temperatures of approximately 90°C, nearing its glass transition temperature.
