This 3D model is a motorized Bruder 1:16 scale Mercedes Unimog toy equipped with an IR remote control. The front axle has been redesigned: a steered front axle made from aluminum extrusions has been constructed.

Now, using a printer, I rebuilt the front axle in OpenCAD and printed it out. It features an adjustable tie rod and is controlled by a micro servo.

The design principle is based on Achsschenkellenkung (Ackermann steering). I reused some components such as ball couplings and servo connectors from the old aluminum axle.

Please note that changes have been made to the connector design to improve strength and prevent damage after several days of use.
