This adapter replaces the discontinued OPC 581/587 cable, allowing remote use of the Icom 706mk2g head. While bulkier, it utilizes off-the-shelf components to connect a shielded network cable (not crossover) instead of the OPC cable. It is important to use shielded cable; connect shield ground at only one end to avoid ground loop issues.
Required Parts:
- RJ45 Shielded 8P8C PCB Connectors - Ethernet Socket 8-pin (Ebay)
- RJ45 MagJack Breakout (Ebay)
- P75-B1 Dia 1.0mm Cusp Spear Spring Loaded Test Probes (Ebay)
- Ribbon cable of appropriate size.
- M3 screws.
This design is intended to replace the cabin light cluster in the Mitsubishi ASX with an adapter for fitting the Icom 706 mk2g head above the driver.
