A printable, wearable arc reactor based on the Mark I movie version.
Assembly Instructions:
- Required parts: 5 M3x10 screws and nuts, 14 White 5mm LEDs, 10 Blue 5mm LEDs (optional), Resistors (depending on your configuration).
- Print the crystal in clear PLA and the other parts in a dark color (metal or black is best).
- For best results, print the crystal with a low rectilinear infill and no more than two shells.
- Assemble everything except the base. Optionally, apply aluminum tape on surfaces you don't want to be translucent.
- Place white LEDs in holes not covered by the top piece (10 around the perimeter and four in the center). Optionally, put blue LEDs in the remaining holes for a nice bluish glow.
- Sand LEDs before wiring for a more diffused glow.
- LED wiring will depend on your power source. Recommended 9V battery with eight parallel runs of 3 LEDs in series with a 68 Ohm resistor.
- Cut a hole in a t-shirt just big enough to fit the crystal, pin the edge of the cloth in the groove between top and base parts, and secure with screws.
- Attach a belt using the slots in the base to ensure the arc reactor stays in place. Run a wire under your clothes to your power supply since there’s no room for a battery in the reactor itself.
Enjoy! P.S. I strongly recommend not trying to get on a plane with this on.
