The scarab beetle is a small model with a secret compartment accessed by pulling back a "drawer" and opening the beetle's wing case. The box is locked by closing the wing case and pushing the drawer back into place.

Inspired by another Thingiverse user, the "head jewel" can be used as a button to open the wing case (with the drawer pulled back), enhancing the model.

This model is styled after the "Egyptian Revival" of the 19th and early 20th centuries rather than Ancient Egypt. Researching this style is worthwhile as it is beautiful and striking. To the ancient Egyptians, the scarab beetle symbolized the sun (Ra) moving across the sky daily.

My model features a stylized beetle with a winged Ra between its front legs. It consists of 12 parts that must be assembled, and all pieces print without support, featuring my design logo on the bottom.

Assembly instructions can be found here: Assembly Instructions. Please read these instructions as they contain updates and guidance for modified files.
