Please read this text completely before printing! This cooling duct is designed to improve the print quality of fine details and bridging when using PLA and ABS filaments. The main issue is the lack of an additional cooling fan, which affects print quality. This duct aims to solve this problem without significant downsides.

Compatibility:

  • MakerBot Replicator 1
  • FF3DP FlashForge Creator
  • CTC Creator Dual
  • WanHao Duplicator 4 and Duplicator 4X

Improvements over v1:

  • Increased airflow, particularly in the side channels
  • Reduced air loss between fan and duct
  • Only screws and nuts required, available at any hardware store
  • Horizontal and secure duct mounting with space for clips
  • Improved flat center air outlets
  • Angular fan mounting prevents issues with the front door on Duplicator 4X

Downsides compared to v1:

  • More complex bridging requires better optimized filament profiles
  • Thin walls require a temporary cooling solution for quality printing of the duct

Mounting:

All mentioned printers share a similar extruder carriage design. Insert an M3 nut into each outer arm of the duct and attach the fan. Ensure that the small lobes grab the carriage from the bottom near the linear bearings. Attach printed clips to the top of the duct's side arms.
