This 3D model of a scorpion features a print-in-place design. The tail rotates up and back, while the pincers also rotate and open to grab onto objects when squeezed.

Printing Instructions:

  • No support required.
  • Carefully snap/cut away the raft to avoid damaging the legs or pincers.
  • The tail should rotate once the raft is removed.
  • Recommended settings:
    • Resolution: 0.20mm
    • Minimum of 3 shells, recommended 4 for strength
    • Infill: 35%
    • Material: PLA (not tested with ABS)

The standard design is approximately 17 cm in length and can be scaled up, but scaling down is not recommended as it may affect internal clearances and weaken joints. A short version measuring 15.7 cm with one less tail link is also available.

Tip: Add a drop of oil to each rotating joint for smooth movement and to reduce the risk of breaking fine parts.
