The Split Machine is a learning tool designed to help children practice number splitting in mathematics. It illustrates how one number can be divided into two smaller numbers that together equal the original number. For example, the number 8 can be split into 5 and 3, or into 6 and 2.
To use the model, simply input a number at the top of the machine (e.g., 8), and two numbers that sum up to 8 (like 5 and 3) will appear at the bottom. This allows children to learn in a playful manner which numbers combine to create a given total.
