Model Description: The DIY Inkjet Printer is an open-source project aimed at creating a low-cost inkjet printer for personal use.

Purpose: This model is designed for users who want to build their own printer utilizing standard inkjet technology.

Construction Features:

  • The design features a frame made from steel rods assembled with connectors that can be 3D printed.
  • The carriage system operates along the X-axis driven by a belt connected to a stepper motor.
  • The print cartridge, sourced from an HP point of sale printer, moves along the Y-axis via another stepper motor belt drive.
  • Electronic controls are managed by an Arduino Mega.

Printing Recommendations: Print the parts in the 'Mechanical.zip' file and assemble them as indicated in 'DIY Inkjet Printer.pdf'. Assemble the electrical components as outlined in 'Circuit.zip' and 'DIY Inkjet Printer.pdf'. Flash your Arduino Mega with the firmware from 'Firmware.zip'. Use Processing.org to run the script in 'Preprocessor.zip' to create a 'print.dat' file. Copy this file onto an SD card to print using the DIY Inkjet Printer.
