3D Model of Turritella Shell

Model Description: This 3D model represents the shell of the marine snail Turritella communis, based on a mathematical model developed by researcher M. B. Cortie.

Usage: The model is intended for 3D printing, and can also serve as a decorative element or educational material for studying marine biology.

Construction Features: The shell was created using the shellNode plugin in Maya and thickened using the Solidify modifier in Blender, allowing for a realistic texture and shape.

Printing Recommendations:

• For printing, use the turritella.stl file; other files are for thickening experiments only.
• It is recommended to print with the aperture facing up for optimal hollow model quality.
• Minimal support material can be easily removed after printing.
• Sanding or tumbling to smooth surfaces is optional but recommended.
